Vacancies & Opportunities

The Northern Research Partnership was funded to recruit up to 18 new academic staff , including 11 at Chair level, to join the more than 135 academic staff, 160 Research staff and some 300 postgraduate students who are already identified as active members of this dynamic new venture.

Joint Research Institutes have been established in Civil Engineering , Computational Systems , Energy & Clean Technologies , Medical Technologies and Non-Linear & Complex Systems . Research takes place at the heart of, and across the boundaries of existing science and technology and will contribute to a Smarter, more Effective Scotland.

Academics interested in discussing current openings, either directly related to NRP, or to institutionally funded related posts, should make contact with the appropriate Institutional contact in the first instance.

Director of the Graduate School of the Northern Research Partnership

Following the resignation of the current Director, the Strategic Management Board of the Northern Research Partnership is looking to identify an academic leader from within the academic community which forms the NRP to act as Director for the NRP Graduate School.

A single Graduate School within the NRP serves the needs of postgraduate research students across the partner universities. The Graduate School provides a significantly enhanced environment for graduate students and more cost-effective training than programmes within individual universities.

Candidates must have a strong research record in a discipline relevant to the NRP and must demonstrate their success in the provision of academic leadership. They must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to contribute to the development of systems for the support of students, recruitment of postgraduates, and research. The appointment to the position of Director of the Graduate School will be for 3 years in the first instance and be subject to annual review by the Strategic Management Board of the NRP. Directors continue to hold full academic appointments within their existing employing institution, but their role and responsibilities lie within the NRP. Duties undertaken in relation to this role will be considered to be a part of their contractual portfolio.
